Our presence in industry networks and media

Young brands need attention. Therefore, we have been presenting our designs to selected jurors since 2012 and showcase the work of our company founder in international print and online media.

AW Architektur & Wohnen: "Showing your colors"

AW Architektur & Wohnen has been published by Jahreszeiten Verlag in Hamburg since 1968. The magazine presents extraordinary apartments, houses, gardens and parks six times a year; the editorial team also portrays architects, labels and leading figures in the international design scene. Since 1999, AW Architektur & Wohnen has received numerous awards, including the Lead Award from the Akademie Bildsprache and the German Design Award from the German Design Council for its annual "Designer of the Year" award.

In the last issue of 2023, the editorial team portrays Nani Marquina and her Butterfly Chair in detail. In an interview with the magazine, the Spanish designer vividly explains the characteristics of the BKF Chair, which she purchased from us a few years ago. The chair has accompanied Marquina on several relocations and its delicate silhouette blends harmoniously into the living environments she has created. Marquina is particularly enthusiastic about the hemp rugs designed by her studio, which provide the Butterfly Chair with a timeless, natural platform.

HOHNER: "Music is my life"

HOHNER, based in Trossingen, Baden-Württemberg, sees itself as the world market leader for harmonicas and accordions. Founded in 1857, the company had a significant influence on the development of blues and jazz, its instruments are an important part of folk music worldwide and have found a permanent place on the classical stage over the decades.

To mark the relaunch of the HOHNER brand, the original version of our Hardoy Butterfly Chair became part of the "Music is my life" campaign at the end of 2022.

Häuser: "Creating new spaces with smart conversions"

HÄUSER, published by Gruner+Jahr since 1979, sees itself as a platform for international construction, contemporary design and sophisticated living. Six times a year, the magazine portrays outstanding architecture and smart interior design concepts, new products and the most exciting stories behind the major designs. Once a year, the magazine awards the prestigious HÄUSER prize to innovative and sustainable single-family house architecture.

In the issue 1/2018, the editors are dedicated to three exemplary conversions that share the respect for the old and the proven. WEINBAUMS' Butterfly Chair graces the cover story "family planning" showcasing our newly developed coffee table with a table top from black marble.

Brand eins and Saxon State Chancellery: "Simply Saxony"

The people of Saxony have a distinctive accent, but more importantly also a distinctive attitude to life. For centuries, they have been noted for their pragmatism and quiet determination to get things done, to come up with new ideas and continually grow and evolve. The campaign "Simply Saxony" is designed to show how Saxonian entrepreneurs make things happen and what sets them apart.

As part of the campaign, our company, the founder and her roots were presented in March 2017. The full portrait can be read here.

Baumeister: "Sublime spaces"

Founded in 1902, Baumeister is considered the leading magazine for architects, town and country planners. In its August issue 2015, the editors portray online and offline selected design classics, among others our version of the Butterfly Chair.

The layout of the magazine was adjusted at irregular intervals to the zeitgeist. While the first covers were influenced by Art Nouveau, a rather formal typology was used from 1907 onwards. Paul Renner revised the layout in 1927, the conservative-classical design has been maintained then until the early 1960s. Since the award-winning relaunch in 2011, Baumeister includes sections such as Minds, Ideas, Questions and Solutions.

red dot design award: Category winner "product design"

Our Butterfly TWIN CHAIR was awarded in July 2013 with the renowned red dot design award. Under the direction of Jimmy Choo, the expert jury particularly honored the careful update of one of the style-defining seating furniture of the 20th century. Based on the draft by Bonet, Kurchan and Ferrari-Hardoy, the resulting two-seater picks up the harmonious geometry of the original design, offers exceptional seating comfort and opens up a wide range of possible uses. From the hotel bar to the reception, from the office to the terrace: the Butterfly TWIN CHAIR is a timeless eye-catcher and aesthetic seating furniture in one.

The awards ceremony took place on 1 July 2013 as part of the traditional red dot gala - held in Essens's opera house, the impressive Alvar-Aalto-Theater. Following the celebratory ceremony, our Butterfly TWIN CHAIR was then put out on display in the red dot design museums of Essen, Singapore, and Taipeh.
